U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide are processing visas, but appointment availability and wait times still vary widely by location. Below is the current status of visa services in your country.

The U.S. Department of State has designated U.S. Embassy Cairo, Egypt to process immigrant visas for residents of Sudan.

All nonimmigrant visa applicants must apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Sudan.

Syria

U.S. Embassy Damascus suspended its operations in 2012 and therefore does not provide visa services.

The U.S. Department of State has designated U.S. Embassy Amman, Jordan and U.S. Embassy Beirut, Lebanon (for Palestinians with Syrian Travel Documents) to process immigrant visas for residents of Syria.

All nonimmigrant visa applicants must apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Syria.

Thailand

The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General in Thailand has resumed all routine nonimmigrant and immigrant visa services.

Ukraine

U.S. Embassy Kyiv has resumed processing certain immigrant visas, including K-1 visas and DV cases. It has also begun processing some nonimmigrant categories like H-2B and C1/D visas, in addition to a small number of tourist visas. The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv remains closed for all other non-immigrant visa services at this time.

United Kingdom

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in the U.K. have resumed all routine visa services.

Venezuela

U.S. Embassy Caracas has suspended all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services.

The U.S. Department of State has designated U.S. Embassy Bogotá, Colombia to process immigrant visas for residents of Venezuela.

All nonimmigrant visa applicants must apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Venezuela.

Vietnam

U.S. Embassy Hanoi has resumed all visa services.

Yemen

U.S. Embassy Sanaa has suspended all consular services until further notice, including immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services.

The U.S. Department of State has designated U.S. Embassy in Djibouti to process immigrant visas for residents of Yemen.

All nonimmigrant visa applicants must apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Yemen.

Zimbabwe

Effective August 7, 2025, U.S. Embassy Harare has temporarily paused all routine visa services. This pause includes applications for immigrant visas as well as nonimmigrant visas.

The U.S. Department of State has designated U.S. Embassy Johannesburg, South Africa to process immigrant visas for residents of Zimbabwe.

All nonimmigrant visa applicants must apply for a visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Zimbabwe.

Important Policy Change Affecting Many Countries

New U.S. Presidential Proclamation (effective January 1, 2026)

A nationwide suspension of visa issuance for certain countries took effect on January 1, 2026. As a result, nationals of some countries listed in this tracker may now face a full or partial suspension of new visa issuance, including both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, under the new policy.

Full suspension (both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas):

  • Iran

  • Niger
  • Somalia
  • South Sudan
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Yemen

Partial suspension (certain visa categories affected):

  • Cuba
  • Nigeria
  • Venezuela
  • Zimbabwe

This policy does not revoke visas that were issued before January 1, 2026. Instead, it affects the issuance of new visas and may limit or suspend processing for certain applicants depending on nationality and visa category.
